THE PERSON BEHIND THE PROJECTS

Hi, I’m Elias.

I like taking a creative idea and figuring out how to make it real.

I’m in my third year at Western University, studying Mechatronics Systems Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Systems Engineering together in a five-year dual-degree program. I expect to graduate in 2029.

I’m drawn to robotics because it brings the physical and digital worlds together. Mechanical design, electronics and embedded software all have to agree before a machine does what you imagined.

I’m looking for a four-month co-op from May to August 2027. Robotics, product development, embedded controls and mechanical design all interest me; printers, satellites and mobile robots are a few of the things I’d love to help build.

BUILDING WITH OTHER PEOPLE

The projects changed.
The curiosity stayed.

My own builds and teaching have grown together. I enjoy helping people read a datasheet, investigate a problem and find their own way through a design.

Today that includes leading WE FIRST and mentoring FRC students. I’m also affiliated with Western’s Sunstangs solar car team.

The teaching & mentoring story
HIGH SCHOOL

Learning by building—and teaching

Personal electronics projects, a VEX robot, and an after-school VEX IQ club for 8–11 elementary students each year in Grades 11 and 12.

2024

Student captain, FRC Team 9580

A rookie season of mechanical design, fabrication, electrical work and learning how a team brings a robot together.

2024–25

From student to mentor

At Western, I became a general mentor for Team 4617, teaching mechanical skills and helping with the Reefscape elevator.

2025–NOW

WE FIRST president & FRC lead mentor

Supporting student projects, workshops and Team 4617, alongside team administration and faculty support.

SUMMER 2026

Production engineering at FIO

Root-cause analysis, equipment upgrades, prototype iteration and installation coordination in automotive manufacturing.

LADY GODIVA AWARD / 2026

Recognition for showing up.

I received the Lady Godiva Award in the winter term of second year, recognizing commitment to the Western Engineering community through WE FIRST, robotics workshops and FRC mentoring.

The most rewarding part is seeing someone become confident enough to take a project in their own direction.
